What happens during treatment?

Topical anaesthetic cream is applied following which threads are introduced into the skin through a fine needle into either the skin itself, the muscle, or the subcutaneous fat. The treatment results in an immediate improvement in appearance but the results will improve over ensuing days and weeks as the threads stimulate collagen production in the skin.

What results can I expect?

Thread-lift treatments can result in an instant and natural looking improvement in the appearance of the skin depending on the type of thread used (mono & double screw do not provide lift). A process of natural protein synthesis then begins after about 10-14 days. Over the subsequent weeks results will continue to improve, peaking at around 6-8 months and lasting for up to 18 month as your own body produces collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Making this form of non surgical facelift a very long lasting treatment. The thread itself is completely biodegradable and dissolves within 12 -24 weeks, after which new collagen has formed around the thread to continue to support results, maintaining a smooth and supple texture of the skin.

Aftercare

• For 48 hours post treatment, you can apply a cold compress on the treated area if required
  
• No pressure is to be exerted on the face for 2 weeks
• Avoid excessive laughter & large facial expressions for at least 72 hours post treatment
• Elevate the treated area when sleeping, and sleep on your back - do not sleep with pressure on your face
• Apply tape as instructed by your practitioner for 24 hours after treatment (or longer if advised). A gentle cleanser/ oil can be used to help remove tape without tugging on the skin.
• Antibiotics may be necessary after your treatment, your doctor will prescribe an appropriate treatment for you. Please take the medication as required
• Drink plenty of fluids, avoid very hot drinks & alcohol for 24-48 hours post treatment
• It is recommended to eat soft foods to avoid excessive chewing for 72 hours post treatment
• Avoid smoking
• No strenuous exercise for 10 days post treatment, light exercise (walking) is okay.
• No sauna or steam room use for 10 days post treatment
• Avoid any activity where the treated area may get contaminated(ie. gardening, cleaning etc)
• No facial massaging, laser or skin needling for 6-8 weeks post treatment.
• Make up should be avoided for 24 hours post treatment, and thereafter, a breathable foundation such as Oxygenetix should be used.

Please note: It is completely normal to experience swelling, bruising and some discomfort for 2 weeks post treatment. You may also experience a tight, pulling feeling in the treated area.
