What happens during a consultation and procedure?
At OZDERM CLINIC Manly, your practitioner will first conduct a thorough consultation to assess your concerns and determine suitability. If you proceed with a procedure, a topical anaesthetic may be applied beforehand for your comfort. Your practitioner will explain the process in detail during your consultation.
How long do results typically last?
Results vary between individuals depending on factors such as the area treated, individual response, lifestyle, and skin type. During your consultation, your practitioner will discuss expected timeframes based on your specific circumstances. Maintenance appointments may be recommended depending on your individual needs and goals.
Aftercare
Following any procedure, there may be temporary swelling, tenderness, or slight redness in the treated area. These reactions are normal and typically subside within a few days.
General aftercare guidance may include:
- Apply a cold compress to the treated area on the day of the procedure (do not apply ice directly to skin – use a clean paper towel or gauze)
- Avoid strenuous exercise and activities for 24 hours
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
- Do not use AHAs, retinols, Vitamin C therapy, or oil-based makeup for 24 hours
- Avoid facials, facial waxing, glycolic or AHA peels, IPL laser treatments, energy-based treatments, and microdermabrasion for two weeks
- Do not expose the treated area to intense heat such as sauna, solarium, or excessive sun
- Avoid pressure on the treated area for the first few nights (a travel pillow can be used to support the head)
- Do not massage the treated area unless instructed by your practitioner
- If you have a history of cold sores, speak to your practitioner about preventative options
Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare instructions tailored to your procedure.
