Mole Removal

Before a mole or other skin lesion is considered for removal, it is assessed by a medical practitioner to determine whether the lesion is appropriate for removal in our clinic.

If a lesion has suspicious or concerning features, cosmetic removal will not proceed, and further investigation, biopsy or referral may be recommended.

Where a mole has been medically assessed and removal is considered appropriate, the method of removal will be selected according to the type, size, location, and clinical characteristics of the lesion.

Depending on the individual lesion, treatment options may include:

• CO₂ Laser
• Radiofrequency (RF) / Hyfrecation
• Other appropriate medical removal techniques where indicated

For certain raised or removed lesions, a tissue sample may be sent to a pathology laboratory for histopathological examination when clinically appropriate.

Your medical practitioner will advise whether pathology is recommended or required for your particular lesion.

Skin tags are common benign skin growths. Before treatment, the area will be assessed to confirm that removal is appropriate.

Depending on the size, location, and characteristics of the skin tag, removal may be performed using CO₂ laser, radio frequency/hyfrecation or another suitable technique.

Before treatment, your practitioner will discuss the proposed procedure, expected outcome, possible risks, alternatives, and aftercare.

Potential risks vary depending on the lesion and removal method and may include:

• Redness, swelling, or discomfort
• Bleeding or infection
• Temporary or permanent changes in skin pigmentation
• Scarring
• Delayed healing
• Incomplete removal or recurrence

Individual healing and cosmetic outcomes vary, and a particular result cannot beguaranteed.

Please arrange a medical assessment if you notice a new or changing skin lesion, including changes in size, shape or colour, or a lesion that bleeds, becomes painful, itchy or otherwise concerns you.
