Mole Removal

Before amole or other skin lesion is considered for removal, it is assessed by amedical practitioner to determine whether the lesion is appropriate for removalin our clinic.

If alesion has suspicious or concerning features, cosmetic removal will not proceedand further investigation, biopsy or referral may be recommended.

Where amole has been medically assessed and removal is considered appropriate, themethod of removal will be selected according to the type, size, location andclinical characteristics of the lesion.

Dependingon the individual lesion, treatment options may include:

• CO₂     Laser
• Radiofrequency     (RF) / Hyfrecation
• Other     appropriate medical removal techniques where indicated

Forcertain raised or removed lesions, a tissue sample may be sent to a pathologylaboratory for histopathological examination when clinically appropriate.

Yourmedical practitioner will advise whether pathology is recommended or requiredfor your particular lesion.

Skin tagsare common benign skin growths. Before treatment, the area will be assessed toconfirm that removal is appropriate.

Dependingon the size, location and characteristics of the skin tag, removal may beperformed using CO₂ laser, radiofrequency/hyfrecation or another suitabletechnique.

Beforetreatment, your practitioner will discuss the proposed procedure, expectedoutcome, possible risks, alternatives and aftercare.

Potentialrisks vary depending on the lesion and removal method and may include:

• Redness,     swelling or discomfort
• Bleeding     or infection
• Temporary     or permanent changes in skin pigmentation
• Scarring
• Delayed     healing
• Incomplete     removal or recurrence

Individualhealing and cosmetic outcomes vary, and a particular result cannot beguaranteed.
