What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are gels made from a substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA is found naturally in the body, with its main role being to attract water and provide hydration to the skin. As we age, the levels of HA which are body produces diminish, resulting in loss of volume and dull skin. Dermal fillers can be used to replenish your own body's HA levels whilst refreshing your facial features, add volume to the face, fill lines & wrinkles, create shape & definition or correct asymmetry. There are many areas which can be treated using dermal fillers such as the lips, nasolabial folds, chin, cheeks, tear trough, jawline, forehead and temples.

What Does Treatment Involve?

A topical anesthetic is applied 20 minutes before injecting to ensure a pain-free treatment. The Dermal Filler is then administered through injections/cannula just below the skin’s surface. 

Aftercare

Immediately after treatment with dermal filler, there may be swelling, tenderness or slight redness in the injected area. These reactions are normal and should subside in a few days.

  • Apply a cold compress to the treated area once or twice on the day of treatment (do not apply ice directly to skin, use a clean paper towel or gauze)
  • Avoid strenuous exercise/activities for 24 hours
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post treatment
  • Do not use AHAs, Retinols, Vitamin C therapy or oil based makeup for 24 hours
  • Avoid facials, facial waxing, Gylcolic of AHA peels, IPL laser treatment or energy based treatments & microdermabrasion for two weeks post treatment.
  • Do not expose the treated area to intense heat such as sauna, solarium or excessive sun)
  • Avoid pressure on the treated area for the first few nights after treatment (a travel pillow can be used to support the head)
  • Do not massage the treated area unless instructed by your physician.
  • If you are a patient who has a history of cold sores, it is advised to take Famvir (3 tablets on dosage) which is an over-the-counter anti-viral on the day of your treatment/ immediately after to prevent an outbreak.

How long do Dermal fillers last?

Dermal filler usually lasts between 6 to 18  months, depending on the product used, skin type, lifestyle, and beauty regime. Dermal fillers are not permanent, it gradually disappears safely and unnoticed from the body

Bio-stimulating Filler

What is bio-stimulating Fillers?

 Bio-stimulating filler is unique to traditional dermal filler as it poses both immediate results ad long term results. The immediate results are wrinkle/fold correction,contouring/ shaping and bringing volume to the face but as well as this, the long term results are facial rejuvenation and reversing the signs of ageing through natural collagen production stimulated by the bio-stimulating filler.

How long will the results last?

Aftercare

  • Apply a cold compress to the treated area once or twice on the day of treatment (do not apply ice directly to skin, use a clean paper towel or gauze)
  • Massage the area treated for 5 minutes, 5x per day for 5 days post treatment, according to your practitioners advice (a mosturising cream can be used when massaging to reduce friction)
  • Makeup can be applied a few hours post treatment given that there are no complications present- eg. bleeding or open wounds.
  • Avoid excessive sun/ UV lights for 1 week post treatment
  • Avoid vigorous exercise/activities and hot bathing/ steam room/ sauna for 24 hours
  • Do not expose the treated area to intense heat such as sauna, solarium or excessive sun)
