Biological Skin Rejuvenation (PRP)

PRP, short for platelet rich plasma, is a substance which is being used in both cosmetic, sports and mainstream medicine.  Here the patient’s own blood is drawn, then centrifuged to separate the red cells from the platelet rich component. The platelet rich plasma is then injected subcutaneously or indeed into a joint or tendon, as required. It is also used by dentists to aid healing after large tooth extractions, and can be used topically in treatment of chronic ulcers.

It has been called a “vampire facelift” in the popular press.

The PRP contains multiple growth factors, which promote tissue healing and regeneration after they have been activated within the body – they have even been found to activate stem cells. It is natural and safe treatment, which uses only the patient’s own cells, so allergic reactions are unlikely.

For skin regeneration, at least three treatments approximately a month apart will be needed to achieve best results. This approach is often used for face, neck, décolletage and hands. It may also be combined with other modalities, such as dermal roller and other treatments, to further enhance regeneration of tissues.
